John Engvall, Jr.
After graduating from Baylor University (B.B.A. 1989, J.D. 1992), John worked for a medium sized firm in Houston for 6 years, 4 as an associate and 2 as a partner, then started his own firm in 1998.
At Baylor, he was named to the GTE Southwest Conference All Academic Athletic team while lettering in track in 10,000 meters. John also received the Legal Professionalism Award from Baylor Law School in 1991.
He was named to the prestigious list of Texas Super Lawyers published by Texas Monthly Magazine 2010, and again in 2011. In 2006, he was nominated and inducted into the Texas Bar Foundation, at age 39.
John has tried a total of three cases alleging brain injury to verdict, in 2003, 2005 and 2007.
He has also defended commercial and property cases to verdicts involving 7 and 8 figure damage allegations, which were not awarded. He divides his time between severe injury cases, real estate and construction disputes, insurance coverage disputes and contractual indemnity disputes.
John has enjoyed picking juries from panels as large as 100 members for two days, and in counties all over Texas. More recently he has handled complex injury and coverage cases outside the state of Texas.
After turning his Blackberry off, John enjoys playing super heros with his 6 and 8 year-old boys. He also enjoys running marathons, quail hunting (without politicians), fly fishing and cycling.
